Minister Zypries opens German-Ghanaian Business Forum
Brigitte Zypries, Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, is opening the German-Ghanaian Business Forum together with Ghana's President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Haus der Deutschen Wirtschaft in Berlin.

“Ghana and Germany are important trading partners, and we wish to further expand our economic relations. The German-Ghanaian Business Forum can make an important contribution to this. Ghana's recent economic development has been very impressive,” said Minister Zypries.
“In 2018, growth is expected to total around 9 per cent. I am glad to see that the new Ghanaian government is going for a policy of diversification in its Industrial Transformational Agenda, aiming to strengthen the private sector and to increase the amount of value added in the country. This is exactly what we are also aiming at with our Pro! Africa initiative, which I launched last year.”
The Pro! Africa initiative of the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy supports the economic development of Africa, aiming in particular to strengthen sustainable growth, more intensive cooperation and greater involvement of the private sector. The focus is on new technologies, innovation and digitisation – tailored to local needs and different regions.
To this end, Germany’s tried and tested instruments to promote foreign trade and investment will be boosted for Africa, our political cooperation will be deepened, and successful funding programmes will also be oriented to Africa.
Ghana is one of the most important trading partners of Germany in Africa with a trade volume of around 584 million Euro. In December 2017, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Minister Brigitte Zypries visited Ghana together with a high-ranking business delegation.
