Exploring opportunities in Uganda and Rwanda
AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd organised a business delegation trip to Uganda and Rwanda, intended for German companies active in the area of civil-security technologies and services.
The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Kenya (AHK Kenia) through its service company AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd organised a business delegation trip to Uganda and Rwanda, intended for German companies active in the area of civil-security technologies and services. The trip took place between May 28 and June 30, 2018 and was organised as part of the Market Exploration Trip sponsored by the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The German cooperation partner was the Afrika-Verein e.V..
The business delegation comprised 12 German companies and one representative from the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The participating companies were highly specialised security solution providers in their respective fields of expertise, providing innovative security technologies, services and products in the area of civil security.
As local implementing partner AHK Services Eastern Africa Ltd facilitated business meetings with Ugandan and Rwandan counterparts, including both private companies as well as public institutions and ministries, for the German companies FAMS Frequentis AG, Aerodata AG, Eagle Security & Consulting GmbH, ZST Security Service Consulting and Technology GmbH, Dräger Safety AG & Co KG aA, Airbus - Defense & Space, HSH Soft- & Hardware Vertrieb GmbH, F.H. Bertling International GmbH, ADVA Optical Networking SE, Wacom Europe GmbH, Schwarz Druck GmbH and Brandmeister Vertriebs GmbH.
In each target country, the delegation trip included high-level, well-attended conferences (over 90 and 70 participants, respectively) on the security sector, as well as incorporated B2B-meetings. This provided the opportunity for high-level managers, politicians and other stakeholders to exchange, network and strengthen the business links between Germany and Uganda as well as Rwanda in the security sector. The core topics of the conferences were Border and Infrastructure Security (Oil & Gas, Port & Aviation), ICT Security & Security Technology and Specialized Security Products & Services. The conferences were followed by official receptions hosted by the local German Embassies in Kampala and Kigali, both offering further great networking opportunities
The delegation trip was supported by the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag, being part of the “Civil Security Technologies and Services Export Initiative” of the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Germany (BMWi).
The business trip followed the great success of similar delegation trips on the security sector to Kenya and Tanzania in the previous years. Similar to the past events, German companies were able to facilitate and deepen their relationships and business opportunities with relevant stakeholders from the two countries Uganda and Rwanda.
